Information for Foxton residents
Stop Press – It is now too late to enter a scarecrow and be listed in the programme, but if you would like to make one and put it up, please feel free to do so.
We are delighted to be repeating our very successful Scarecrow Festival again this year, and we would love to beat our previous record of 44 scarecrows! We hope you will join in the creativity and fun by making a scarecrow to display somewhere in the village. This year there will be prizes for the ‘people’s choice’ scarecrow, which everyone can vote for, and also a judge’s prize for the most ‘traditional’ one.
You can make a scarecrow on your own, as a family or as a group within the village. We’d really love some village organisations to make scarecrows, possibly one (or more) that represents your organisation. The theme for this year is ‘In Perfect Harmony’, (songs, music, lyrics or anything else in line with this theme!). Do browse the Galleries page for photos from previous festivals. You can use whatever materials you like for your creation – it doesn’t have to be straw! And remember that the fun of the Scarecrow Festival is that everyone takes part, so your scarecrow does not have to be too brilliant.
Here are a couple of links that show you how to make a traditional scarecrow:

Alongside your scarecrow display, we would love you to do a mini-fundraising activity. It could be as simple as ‘name the scarecrow’, a fun game (possibly related to your scarecrow theme), selling cakes or other goodies. This is completely voluntary, of course!
